Highlights from the last 5 days

Our first 15 day rotation as a regular cottage comes to an end tomorrow when our kids head to their relief cottage. The 15 days have certainly flown by! Although we do miss our other kids, we are really enjoying having the same kids day-in and day-out. Here's a couple of highlights from the last few days:

Ross helped Candace dye her hair an auburn color tonight and although I wasn't excited about the change, it looks really good and was great bonding time for the 2 of them.

Candace and I cooked the most complex meal I have ever participated in last night for dinner. Rhonda - you would have been impressed! It was Italian Lemon Butter Chicken. Candace found this multi-step recipe on the Internet and honestly, I was not looking forward to it but it turned out great! Some of the ingredients were chicken, fresh squeezed lemon juice, bacon, capers, and artichoke hearts...just to name a few. We made quite a mess and spent lots of time cooking but the proud look on Candace's face as she fried the chicken to a golden brown and served the final product to all of us, was absolutely priceless.

Nick and Lynn continue to drive and work on remote control cars. Actually, our living room looks more like a used car lot than a place for gathering. There are cars, batteries, controllers, and chargers decorating the hearth, piano and area behind the couch. It's loud and crazy but lots of fun!

One night while Candace and Lynn joined their brother for a movie, Ross and I taught Nick how to play SkipBo. Ross then proceeded to beat us 3 games in a row before Nick finally pulled off the last one.

Justus has been sick the past week or so and is now on an antibiotic for a sinus infection. While his sleeping habits have changed some, his desire to run around with the big kids has not. Justus LOVES following both Candace and Lynn around the house. He actually knocks on Lynn's door sometimes just hoping to have some more time with him. I bet he will be sad that Candace, Nick, and Justus are not here tomorrow afternoon. We shall see.
